ABOUT THE EVENT

BALSA's Science Insights webinar series is designed to foster high-level scientific discussions at the frontiers of life sciences and to showcase cutting-edge work by Brazilian scientists.

Our invited speaker, Dr. Thiago J. Borges, Assistant Professor at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, presented and discussed his recently published study on high-dimensional immune profiling in a living human recipient of a gene-edited pig kidney (Nature Medicine, 2026).

Xenotransplantation represents a promising solution to the global shortage of donor organs. This work provided valuable insights into the immune landscape and dynamics of kidney xenotransplantation, advancing our understanding of immune responses in this emerging clinical setting.
