ABOUT THE EVENT

In celebration of BALSA's first anniversary, we had the honor of hosting one of the greatest names in contemporary science: Dr. Craig C. Mello, winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his revolutionary discovery of RNA interference (RNAi).

Dr. Mello is a professor at UMass Chan Medical School, was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator for more than two decades, and is the author of one of the most transformative contributions to modern molecular biology.

In this special conversation, he shared his scientific path, the story behind the discovery that changed our understanding of gene regulation, and his reflections on the future of science, in an open conversation with young Brazilian researchers. The event was held in English.
