Brazil-Japan Biotech Startup Night
Cross-border biotech collaboration between Brazil and Japan during JPM Healthcare Week
ABOUT THE EVENT
BALSA supported the Brazil-Japan Biotech Startup Night during JPM Healthcare Week, in partnership with the Consulate General of Brazil in San Francisco, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, and Japan Innovation Campus. The event brought together founders, investors, and ecosystem leaders from Brazil and Japan to discuss cross-border collaboration in biotech and health innovation.
Antonio Henriques, Co-Founder and CEO of Momentum Therapeutics and Co-President of BALSA, moderated a panel on fundraising and navigating the U.S. biotech ecosystem for first-time CEOs. The panel featured Lauren Gehman, Co-Founder and CEO of Merge Therapeutics, and Ying Kai Chan, Co-Founder and CEO of Cirrus Therapeutics, both first-time CEOs and Termeer Institute fellows building and financing companies in the United States.
The evening also included a startup pitch session and a networking reception, focused on practical lessons and the real challenges founders face raising capital in today's market.
